Recreation Advisory Commission


To determine and respond to the community's needs and desires by monitoring the activities of the recreation department and advising the director in planning the operations of the department and facilities. The Commission is empowered to provide advisory guidance on the establishment of future parks, provision of new activities and the review of existing programs and activities.


The Commission shall consist of six (6) commissioners, each of whom shall reside in incorporated or unincorporated Villa Rica unless otherwise approved by the Villa Rica Mayor and City Council. The six Commissioners shall represent the following interest groups: seniors, athletics, programming, business community and with (2) at-large members. No Commissioner shall hold any elected office in the City. In addition to the appointed members of the Commission, selected Council Members shall serve as ex officio.


Regular meetings of the Commission may be held at the Recreation/Senior Citizens Complex on the first Thursday of January, April, July and October at 6:00 p.m. Special meetings of the commission may be held at any time at the call of the Director of the Parks and Recreation, Chairman of the Commission, or at the call of the Mayor, or by a majority of the members of the Commission.

Appointment Term:

The term of the appointments to the Commission will be for three (3) years, without a limit on the number of terms a member may serve.


The absence for three (3) consecutive meetings of any member of the Commission, without due and acceptable excuse, shall constitute a vacancy on the Commission.
